Tesla’s chief designer Franz von Holzhausen has confirmed the company is moving forward with the next-generation Roadster sooner rather than later. In a rare update, von Holzhausen indicated the vehicle is arriving in the near term, marking the closest official word on timing for a car that’s existed mostly in renderings and CEO Elon Musk’s promises since its 2017 unveiling.
The original second-generation Roadster concept promised a 200-plus-mph top speed and 0-60 acceleration in under three seconds, positioning it as Tesla’s answer to McLaren and Ferrari.
