Iittala and Byredo Illuminate Rituals With LJUS

A collaboration exploring light, scent and Nordic craft.

A Meeting of Nordic Design Traditions

Finnish design house Iittala has partnered with fragrance brand Byredo to introduce LJUS, a limited-edition collection of handcrafted glass objects centered on the rituals of light and scent. The collaboration merges Iittala’s heritage in glassmaking with Byredo’s sensorial approach to design, creating objects meant to transform everyday moments into intentional rituals.

Rooted in shared Nordic values, the collection draws inspiration from the changing qualities of light across the region, from the long glow of the midnight sun to the soft warmth of winter evenings.

Glass as a Living Material

Each piece in the LJUS collection is produced at Iittala’s historic glass factory in Finland. Artisans shape molten glass through traditional techniques using breath and heat, allowing subtle variations to emerge in every object. These natural irregularities highlight the living quality of the material and emphasize the handcrafted nature of the collection.

When paired with Byredo’s candles and incense, the glass pieces become vessels that capture light and fragrance, reinforcing the idea of everyday rituals built around atmosphere and presence.

From Paris Debut to Global Release

The collection will first be introduced through a conceptual installation at the MATTER and SHAPE design event in Paris in March 2026. Presented as a sculptural environment, the installation will explore how light, glass and scent interact in space.

Following its debut, the full LJUS collection will launch globally in October 2026, timed for the holiday season.
