Herman Miller and John Pawson Reveal the Drift Sofa Collection

Minimalism meets mindful materiality in this elevated new seating series

Legendary design house Herman Miller teams up with renowned British architect John Pawson for a new chapter in contemporary furniture: the Pawson Drift Sofa Group. The collection embodies Pawson’s signature soft minimalism, blending clean lines, warm materials, and a deep respect for proportion and light.

The pieces—offered as a left- or right-chaise sectional and lounge chair—feature bold, rectilinear silhouettes that intentionally move away from the softer, rounded forms of traditional Mid-Century furniture. Crafted in solid Nortwood and available in white oak or walnut, the frame’s recessed platform and wraparound structure give each piece a grounded yet airy presence.

Designed with intention, the Drift series champions sustainability without compromising comfort. Over 80% of its composition uses natural, plant-based materials—including cushions wrapped in responsibly sourced down and filled with plant-based latex rather than traditional petroleum-based foam.

Herman Miller also offers the collection in Greenguard™ Gold Certified fabrics like Rowan, Beck, and Isa, supporting better indoor air quality while delivering a refined tactile finish.

Now available online at the Herman Miller web store and through MillerKnoll contract dealers, the Pawson Drift Sofa Group is more than just a seating line—it’s a refined expression of modern living, rooted in timeless design and ecological responsibility.
