Four Seasons Danieli Venice Returns After €30M Overhaul

four seasons

The legendary Venetian palace hotel reopens August 26 as Four Seasons’ fourth Italian outpost, rebuilt from the inside out.

The Four Seasons Danieli Venice opens its doors on August 26, marking the return of one of Europe’s most mythologized hotels after a sprawling €30 million renovation. The storied property, housed in a 14th-century Venetian palace overlooking the San Marco Basin, becomes the Four Seasons brand’s fourth location in Italy and represents a significant bet on ultra-luxury hospitality in a city where major hotel upgrades remain rare.

The transformation touches every element of the 111-room hotel. Interiors have been completely reimagined while architectural bones and period details remain intact, a delicate balance in a city where heavy-handed modernization can read as cultural erasure. The renovation preserves the building’s Gothic facade and its position as a centerpiece of the Grand Canal landscape, a requirement for any serious work in Venice’s protected zones. Guest rooms, suites, dining venues, and spa facilities all underwent complete overhauls as part of the multi-year project.

The reopening expands Four Seasons’ Italian footprint beyond Milan, Rome, and Florence. Venice’s luxury hotel market has seen limited new major operations in recent years, making the Danieli’s return significant for both the brand and the city’s high-end travel infrastructure. The property’s historical gravitas, it has hosted everyone from Byron to Hemingway, remains its calling card, now paired with contemporary Four Seasons service standards and amenities.
