In Seoul’s Seodaemun-gu, a boutique clinic transforms beauty care into a serene, nature-infused experience.
Rooted in Symbolism
For Palo Verde Aesthetic, STUDIO GIMGEOSIL drew inspiration from the Palo verde tree — a desert species known for resilience, renewal and understated beauty. The 80-square-meter clinic translates this symbolism into a tactile interior, grounding visitors in tones of soft green, sandy beige and warm timber. Lead architect YongChul Kim envisioned the space as a retreat from the city, where the act of care unfolds within an environment that feels both restorative and refined.
Flow and Material Harmony
The layout follows a gentle procession, beginning with a welcoming reception alcove and unfolding into private treatment rooms and a lounge for quiet pause. Curved partitions and recessed niches guide circulation while preserving intimacy, while built-in benches and cabinetry maintain a clean, uncluttered atmosphere. Materials echo the textures of bark and foliage: troweled plaster walls, honed limestone floors and custom timber joinery. A skylit corridor and a living green wall extend this natural dialogue, drawing daylight and botanical presence deep into the interior.
Light, Form and Atmosphere
Lighting design plays a central role in shaping the clinic’s calming character. Concealed LEDs wash ceilings and walls in a soft, warm glow, while spotlights accentuate details like bespoke shelving and a sculptural stone washbasin. Furniture selections favor organic silhouettes and tactile finishes, further reinforcing the clinic’s natural elegance. Together, these elements create a setting where treatment is paired with contemplative stillness — a space where nature, design and wellbeing seamlessly converge.
