Exploring the interplay of rigidity and adaptability through innovative design.
Goosenecks in Motion
Seoul-based studio p(erson)al, led by Woojin Park, presents the “Soft Syntax” exhibition, transforming the industrial gooseneck component into responsive furniture. The project deconstructs the traditional function of these flexible parts, using them to create forms that react to user interaction.
Interactive Design
Pieces like the de-goose chair 1 incorporate gooseneck elements for curved backrests that adapt to the sitter’s body. As users engage with the furniture, their movements actively shape the form, turning a static object into a dynamic experience. This approach reflects a philosophy of balance between rigidity and flexibility, standardization and mutability.
Minimalist Philosophy Meets Function
p(erson)al reinterprets industrial materials through a human-centered lens, producing objects that evolve in both form and function. The studio’s aesthetic—metallic, minimal, and refined—aligns with Seoul’s contemporary design scene, advancing interactive furniture that combines elegance with thoughtful engineering.
