Range Rover Builds an Immersive Memory Inspired Design Experience in Milan

Storey Studio transformed Milan Design Week into a sensory journey where color, texture, and memory guided every room.

A Thoughtful Return to Milan Design Week

Range Rover returned to Milan Design Week with a new large scale installation created in partnership with Storey Studio. Titled Traces, the project focused on the brand’s bespoke services while exploring how personal memories can shape the choices people make through color, material, and visual association.

Rather than placing a vehicle at the center immediately, the experience invited visitors to move through a sequence of spaces designed to trigger reflection and emotional connection.

Three Rooms Built Around Memory

The installation unfolded through three adjoining rooms named Memory and Color, Memory and Motif, and Memory and Material.

The first room featured mirrored walls and shifting light inspired by a film from director Felipe Sanguinetti. Drawing from his Argentine roots, the film connected life moments to specific colors, while the reflective environment emphasized limitless possibility and personal interpretation.

In the second room, embroidered artworks by multiple artists captured memories of Milan. Champagne toned vitrines displayed the pieces, while soft carpeting changed the atmosphere into something quieter and more intimate.

Design, Discovery, and a Bespoke Finale

Only in the final room did visitors encounter a custom Range Rover model named Pearl of Tay, inspired by the freshwater pearl of Scotland’s River Tay. Black gravel flooring and pearlescent ceiling forms recreated the feeling of walking along a riverbed.

Craft objects curated by Edinburgh gallery Bard lined the room, encouraging guests to discover details as they moved through the space. The installation concluded with a café created alongside Gubi, blending collectible furniture with a relaxed social setting.

With Traces, Range Rover and Storey Studio delivered one of the more considered automotive appearances at Milan Design Week, using design to create atmosphere rather than simply display a product.
