The South Korean designer brings his sun bleached aesthetic and slow fashion philosophy to Florence.
A Special Guest With a Distinct Perspective
Jiyong Kim has been announced as a Special Guest for Pitti Uomo 110, set to take place in Florence from June 16 to 19, 2026. Known for his experimental approach to menswear, the South Korean designer continues to gain global recognition following his standout presence in the 2024 LVMH Prize.
Rather than following the traditional runway format, JiyongKim will present his work through a dedicated project event at the Fortezza da Basso, offering a more immersive way to experience the collection.
A Process Driven by Nature and Time
At the core of JiyongKim’s work is his signature sun bleach technique, which uses natural sunlight to alter and transform garments. This process creates organic fading and unique surface variations, ensuring that no two pieces are ever the same.
His approach reflects a broader philosophy of slow fashion, where clothing is not seen as a finished product but as something that evolves over time. By working with vintage fabrics and experimental pattern making, the designer emphasizes transformation, imperfection and individuality.
An Exhibition That Moves Beyond the Runway
The upcoming presentation is designed as an evolving environment where garments, space and time interact. This format allows viewers to engage with the pieces in a more layered and reflective way, moving beyond the constraints of a traditional show.
Supported by cultural institutions and featured alongside other notable designers, JiyongKim’s presence at Pitti Uomo highlights a growing interest in sustainability and process driven design within contemporary fashion.
