Inside Dior’s Golden Bamboo Pavilion in Tokyo

dior

The immersive space blends fashion, architecture and Japanese craftsmanship into a living cultural experience.

A Landmark Inspired by Nature and Tradition

Dior has unveiled the Golden Bamboo Pavilion in Tokyo’s Daikanyama district, creating a striking new destination that reflects the brand’s long standing connection with Japan. Designed as a living installation, the pavilion merges luxury fashion with traditional craftsmanship and architectural storytelling.

The exterior is defined by thousands of hand finished bamboo poles coated in gold, forming a luminous lattice that wraps the building. Inspired by traditional bamboo techniques, the structure shifts with natural light throughout the day, giving the pavilion a dynamic and organic presence.

Interiors That Feel Like a Living Garden

Inside, the pavilion continues its dialogue with nature through calm and minimal design. Washi paper elements, soft textures and an open air atrium allow light to filter through the structure, creating a serene atmosphere reminiscent of a quiet forest.

The space is enriched by collaborations with Japanese creatives. Horticulturist Seijun Nishihata designed conceptual gardens, while floral artist Azuma Makoto contributed immersive botanical installations. A traditional thatched teahouse by designer Kodai Iwamoto adds another layer of craftsmanship rooted in Japanese heritage.

Additional works by contemporary designers further expand the experience, turning the pavilion into a meeting point between fashion, art and design.

A Cultural and Retail Experience

Beyond its architectural presence, the pavilion functions as a multi layered destination. Visitors can explore exclusive Dior product capsules alongside curated exhibitions that highlight the brand’s historical connection to Japanese art and textiles.

A Dior Café within the space offers views of the surrounding greenery, adding to the sensory experience. By combining retail, exhibition and environment, the Golden Bamboo Pavilion positions itself as both a cultural landmark and a new expression of Dior’s global identity.
