Victoria Yakusha’s ‘Land of Light II’ Marries Matter and Soul

The designer explores resilience and human connection through light and sculptural storytelling.

Illuminating Resilience Through Design

Architect and designer Victoria Yakusha is set to debut Land of Light II at Design Miami 2025. Guided by her philosophy of “live minimalism,” Yakusha continues to blur the lines between the physical and the metaphysical, crafting works that embody both matter and spirit. This new series reflects her belief that light is most visible in darkness, serving as a testament to resilience and the human capacity to move forward even amid uncertainty.

Figures Paired With Mythical Creatures

Land of Light II brings together four Ukrainian figures from design, fashion, science, and art. Each is paired with a mythical creature sculpted in Yakusha’s sustainable ZTISTA material, made from clay, flax, wood chips, and recycled paper. The creatures mirror the inner qualities of their counterparts, combining personal essence with imaginative craftsmanship.

A Meditation on Memory and Connection

Handcrafted in Ukraine, the works are more than objects; they are reflections on memory, healing, and human connection. By channeling light through people and their creations, Yakusha creates a shared landscape of hope — a land of light that persists even in turbulent times, where design becomes both tangible and transcendent.
