A city inspired exhibition turns urban grit into a lush floral dreamscape.
A Botanical Tribute to New York City
The New York Botanical Garden has unveiled its 23rd annual Orchid Show, titled Mr Flower Fantastic’s Concrete Jungle, running through April 26, 2026. Taking over the Enid A Haupt Conservatory, the immersive exhibition reimagines iconic New York scenes through more than 7,000 orchids. Visitors move through large scale installations including a two story brownstone covered in cascading blooms, a yellow taxi emerging from a floral car wash, and a subway station dubbed Orchid Avenue.
Street Culture Meets Floral Craft
The show marks a major moment for Queens born artist Mr Flower Fantastic, whose identity remains intentionally concealed behind his signature respirator mask and gloves. Originally worn due to a severe flower allergy, the protective gear has become central to his artistic persona. Known for blending floristry with sculpture and street culture, he has previously created viral floral sneakers and collaborated with global brands. In Concrete Jungle, he juxtaposes delicate orchids with gritty urban imagery, reframing the city’s toughness through softness and color.
An After Dark Experience
Continuing NYBG’s tradition of inviting contemporary artists to reinterpret orchids, the exhibition offers both daytime immersion and evening programming. Orchid Nights bring music, food, and cocktails into the conservatory, amplifying the show’s energetic city atmosphere. Through layered storytelling and bold visual contrasts, Mr Flower Fantastic celebrates New York’s resilience, creativity, and constant reinvention.
