Casa de Los Leones Emerges as a Living Showcase for Contemporary Mexican Craft

A Historic Residence Reimagined

Clase Azul México has unveiled Casa de Los Leones, a restored historic mansion in Polanco that expands the brand’s presence into hospitality through an art and design driven perspective. Rather than functioning as a conventional luxury venue, the project positions itself as a cultural environment dedicated to contemporary Mexican craftsmanship, artistic collaboration, and material heritage.

The transformation was led by C Cúbica Arquitectos, who approached the residence with a conservation first mindset. Original architectural elements remain intact, forming a dialogue with newly commissioned furniture, ceramics, textiles, and artworks. The result is a space where interventions feel inseparable from the structure itself, avoiding the staged aesthetic often associated with gallery like hospitality concepts.

Craft, Ceramics, and Material Identity

Ceramics serve as a conceptual anchor throughout Casa de Los Leones, reflecting both Mexico’s deep rooted material traditions and Clase Azul México’s longstanding connection to handcrafted production. Surfaces, objects, and installations emphasize tactility and process, reinforcing the idea that craft is not decorative but foundational to the experience of the space.

Artworks are integrated with deliberate restraint. The lobby introduces a rotating installation program, opening with a piece by Amador Montes. Elsewhere, a textile installation by Beatriz Morales utilizes repurposed agave fibers, embedding sustainability directly into the narrative of Mexican material culture. Contributions by Raul de la Cerda appear across multiple areas, reinforcing the house’s role as a platform rather than a static exhibition.

Hospitality Through Experience and Ritual

Casa de Los Leones extends beyond visual engagement into curated, appointment only encounters. Taste of Time, a guided tequila tasting experience, centers on ritual, pacing, and sensory education rather than spectacle. A private floor designed for collectors includes a library and intimate tasting rooms, further emphasizing reflection and connoisseurship.

Located at Luis G. Urbina 104 in Polanco, Mexico City, Casa de Los Leones operates exclusively by appointment, underscoring its positioning as a contemplative cultural setting rather than a high traffic destination.
