Gabriel Tan’s Rumee Lamp Brings Emotion And Craft To Everyday Light

lamp

Louis Poulsen’s newest portable lamp blends nature-inspired form, soft ambient glow, and sustainable design.

A Sculptural Vision For Daily Living

Louis Poulsen has introduced the Rumee Portable Lamp by Gabriel Tan, its inaugural Designer of the Year for 2025. Rooted in the brand’s “Design to Shape Light” philosophy, Rumee pairs a poetic silhouette with practical versatility. Drawing from both Asian and European aesthetics, Tan creates a piece that feels timeless — elegant yet warm, sculptural yet approachable.

Light That Comforts And Functions

Rumee’s flowing, wide-brim form nods to natural shapes and serves a dual purpose: a downward-tilted head ideal for reading, paired with a soft 360-degree ambient glow. A built-in diffuser ensures the light remains warm and glare-free, making Rumee a quiet companion for both indoor and outdoor environments. Portable and tactile, it’s intentionally designed to feel like an object you want to hold and keep close.

Sustainable, Thoughtful Craft

Made primarily from recycled plastic, Rumee reflects Louis Poulsen’s focus on longevity and environmental responsibility. It carries an IP44 rating for outdoor durability and offers a replaceable battery and LED, supporting long-term use. Finishing details lean into the emotional side of materiality — glossy surfaces and an organic stem shape that feels inviting to the touch.

Rumee is now available on Louis Poulsen’s site in White, Warm Grey and Blue.
