A complete rebuild brings the legendary “Hachiroku” into a new era.
A Proper Factory-Backed Revival
TOM’S Heritage, the restoration arm of TOM’S Racing, has introduced a full-scale restoration program for the Toyota Corolla Levin AE86. This isn’t a casual refresh—it’s a ground-up rebuild handled by one of Toyota’s most trusted long-time partners. With roots dating back to the 1970s and official backing from Toyota, TOM’S brings serious credibility to a project centered on one of the most iconic drift cars ever made.
Modern Engineering Meets Classic DNA
The program goes far beyond cosmetic updates. Alongside refreshed interiors and exteriors, the AE86’s 4A-G engine is reworked using modern engineering techniques for improved durability and performance. Drawing inspiration from TOM’S racing developments, the updated engine is expected to push over 190 horsepower, a noticeable jump from the original output. The car also receives new two-piece lattice-style wheels, giving it a sharper, more aggressive stance while staying true to its heritage.
Two Paths to Ownership
TOM’S offers the program in two tiers depending on whether customers already own an AE86. Pricing starts at around $80,000 USD if you provide the donor car, or just over $100,000 USD for a complete build including the vehicle. Either way, the program positions itself as a premium, authentic way to preserve—and elevate—the legacy of the Hachiroku.
