NOT A HOTEL Expands Into Public Hotels With Heritage and Vertex

Bridging historic tradition and futuristic design in Japan.

A Nod to Tradition: HERITAGE

NOT A HOTEL Co., Ltd. is stepping beyond its shared-ownership villas with the launch of two distinct hotel brands. HERITAGE focuses on preserving and reinterpreting historic architecture for contemporary guests. Its inaugural project will renovate the former temple lodging at Kyoto’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tō-ji Temple, maintaining the essence of the original architecture while adapting it for modern hospitality.

Forward-Thinking Design: Vertex

Vertex, in contrast, embraces radical, future-forward architecture. Its first project in Okinawa is designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, marking the firm’s first hotel in Japan. The building is envisioned to “float” above the landscape, blending innovative technology with Okinawa’s natural environment while minimizing ecological impact. Guests can expect a visually striking experience with expansive ocean views, fully aligned with vertex’s ethos of cutting-edge design and immersive lifestyle experiences.

With these two launches, NOT A HOTEL invites the public to experience Japan through both the lens of timeless heritage and avant-garde architectural innovation, expanding the company’s footprint from private villas to accessible hotel destinations.
