Muller Van Severen’s Pillow Sofa Arrives in Glossy Black

sofa

The Belgian design duo refresh their cult-favorite couch with a sleek new finish.

A Fashion-Design Crossover

Originally created in 2021, the Pillow Sofa was inspired by KASSL Editions’ popular Pillow Bag. Designers Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen translated the voluminous form of the accessory into a sofa made of individual cushions tied together with fabric-covered bands on a steel frame. The piece quickly became known as a symbol of the intersection between fashion and furniture.

The Glossy Black Update

In collaboration with KASSL Editions and BD Barcelona, Muller Van Severen has reintroduced the design in a bold new fabric. The sofa now comes in shiny black lacquered cotton, adding a reflective surface that highlights its sculptural quality. “Every fabric gives the Pillow Sofa its own unique character, but there is something especially bold and elegant about this glossy lacquered cotton. It’s full of personality and undeniably chic,” the designers explained.

Availability

The glossy black edition maintains the same visual language as the original but has been slightly simplified for easier assembly. Joining the existing range of leather, velvet, canvas, cotton, lacquer cotton, and corduroy versions, the new release is available from August 21 on kassleditions.com.
