The landmark exhibition will open this fall at Fondation Beyeler in Switzerland.

A Career-Spanning Showcase

A major retrospective of Yayoi Kusama’s work is making its way across Europe, marking one of the most comprehensive surveys of the artist to date. Co-organized by Fondation Beyeler in Riehen, Museum Ludwig in Cologne, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the exhibition will present highlights from Kusama’s seven-decade career alongside new productions and early works being shown in Europe for the first time. Visitors can also expect the artist’s iconic Infinity Mirror Rooms, immersive installations, and polka dot landscapes that have become synonymous with her practice.

Kusama’s World of Infinity

The retrospective explores Kusama’s vast artistic universe, spanning painting, sculpture, drawing, performance, fashion, and literature. Since emerging in New York’s avant-garde scene during the 1960s, Kusama has developed a singular vision centered around repetition, infinity, and self-obliteration. Her ability to blur the line between observer and environment has cemented her place as one of the most influential living artists.

Exhibition Details

The show debuts at Fondation Beyeler on October 12, 2025, marking Switzerland’s first major museum presentation of Kusama’s work. It will then travel to Museum Ludwig in Cologne from March 14 through August 2, 2026, before concluding at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam from September 11, 2026 to January 17, 2027.

For those eager for an earlier glimpse, a concurrent presentation titled Infinity is currently on view at Espace Louis Vuitton in Osaka.
