ThruDark Unveils Rugged Backpacks Built For Extreme Environments

thrudark

Developed by former UK Special Forces operators, the latest lineup combines expedition tested materials with mountaineering focused performance.

Field Tested Gear Designed For Adventure

British performance brand ThruDark has introduced a new collection of technical backpacks engineered to withstand some of the world’s harshest environments. Developed and tested by the company’s UK Special Forces co founders, the range has undergone years of real world validation across Mount Everest, the Moroccan desert, and the Alps.

The collection includes the Pinnacle Series in 28 liter and 42 liter configurations, alongside the mountaineering focused Orbital 30L. Each pack is tailored for specific outdoor demands while emphasizing durability, functionality, and reliability in extreme conditions.

The Pinnacle Series Prioritizes Versatility

Constructed from Robic 210D Hex Nylon with a C0 DWR water repellent treatment, the Pinnacle Series is reinforced with 840D ballistic nylon in high wear areas for added durability. Both sizes feature adjustable back panels, hydration reservoir pockets, and integrated rain covers rated to 10,000HH+.

The 28L model is designed for fast paced day hikes and lightweight adventures, while the larger 42L version offers additional storage and expedition focused features. A floating top lid, rope straps, and detachable sleeping pad attachments make it better suited for extended trips and multi day treks.

The Orbital 30L Is Built For Alpine Missions

For mountaineering and technical climbing, the Orbital 30L employs an advanced ripstop construction reinforced with Dyneema fibers for exceptional tear resistance. The pack delivers a waterproof rating of 9,700HH and incorporates snow shedding EVA back panels for improved performance in winter environments.

Additional features include dedicated ice axe attachments, rope management straps, and integrated RECCO rescue technology. Tested under 13 kilogram loads, the Orbital 30L is purpose built for demanding alpine pursuits and reflects ThruDark’s focus on creating gear capable of performing in the most challenging conditions.
