An early refresh leans into Fairlady Z heritage, pairing nostalgic styling with enthusiast driven mechanical updates.
A Sharper Look Rooted in History
Unveiled quietly at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, the 2027 Nissan Z arrives with a facelift that draws more clearly from its classic lineage. The front end adopts a sculpted two piece grille with a body color crossbar that recalls the 240Z G nose, while the traditional Nissan badge is replaced by a simple Z emblem. New Unryu Green paint, inspired by historic Grand Prix Green, and refreshed nineteen inch wheels reinforce the model’s retro direction. Inside, a tan leather interior option shifts the cabin away from a tuner aesthetic toward a more refined grand touring feel.
Subtle Chassis and Aero Refinements
Beyond styling, Nissan has made under the skin changes aimed at sharpening the driving experience. Updated monotube dampers with larger pistons promise improved ride control and response, while upgraded brakes help match the car’s performance intent. Minor aerodynamic tweaks are said to reduce lift and drag, keeping the Z competitive against rivals while preserving its analog character in a market increasingly dominated by electrification.
A Purist Friendly Nismo Returns
The most significant update comes with the Z Nismo, which finally gains a six speed manual transmission. Paired with revised ECU and throttle mapping, upgraded suspension tuning, and brakes derived from the GT R, the Nismo now delivers the driver focused setup enthusiasts have long requested. Retaining the three point zero liter twin turbo V6, the 2027 Nissan Z positions itself as a bridge between JDM nostalgia and a new generation of drivers who value engagement as much as performance.
