The collaboration with Poltrona Frau turns an iconic piece of furniture into a collectible work of art.
A Meeting of Street Art and Italian Craftsmanship
Poltrona Frau has partnered with renowned street artist Shepard Fairey to create a special version of its iconic Archibald armchair. Originally designed by Jean Marie Massaud in 2009, the chair has been reinterpreted as part of the brand’s 2026 theme focused on timeless design and cultural relevance.
The result is the Archibald Delicate Balance Limited Edition, a piece that blends contemporary art with traditional Italian craftsmanship. The chair will be officially presented during Salone del Mobile in Milan in April 2026.
A Visual Story Inspired by Nature
Fairey’s design transforms the armchair into a narrative artwork centered on the relationship between humans and nature. The composition features a female figure representing Mother Nature surrounded by birds and floral elements.
The imagery reflects themes that have appeared throughout Fairey’s work, drawing connections to earlier pieces while introducing a more reflective and balanced visual tone. The layered design creates a sense of movement and symbolism across the surface of the chair.
A Limited Collector’s Piece With Detailed Craft
The artwork is applied using digitally printed Pelle Frau leather, built up through multiple layers of color to create depth. Selective embossing adds a three dimensional texture that echoes the tactile quality of Fairey’s original artworks.
Limited to just 200 numbered pieces, each chair is designed as a collectible object. Every unit includes a polished brass plaque and a certificate of authenticity signed by both Shepard Fairey and the CEO of Poltrona Frau, reinforcing its status as a fusion of art and design.
