The breakout artist debuts new paintings exploring myth, identity, and storytelling.

A New Chapter with Zwirner

New York-based artist Sasha Gordon will open her solo exhibition Haze at David Zwirner’s Chelsea gallery on September 10. This marks her first presentation with Zwirner since announcing co-representation with Matthew Brown Gallery, highlighting a major step forward in her career.

The World of Haze

Gordon is known for luminous, dreamlike works that often feature herself as a recurring figure. Her paintings weave between humor, fantasy, and the uncanny, with veils of vibrant oil capturing shifting identities and inner dramas. With Haze, she turns toward chronological storytelling, piecing together the origin myths of her imaginative worlds.

Critical Acclaim

David Zwirner expressed his admiration for Gordon’s work after first seeing it at ICA Miami in 2024, calling her “an artist of our time and for our time” and praising her ability to push painting into uncharted territory.

Exhibition Details

Haze will be on view from September 10 through October 18 at David Zwirner’s 19th Street gallery in Chelsea.
