RUF Ehra Breaks Cover at Monterey: A Hand-Built 650-HP Flat-Six Supercar with a 7-Speed Manual

RUF Ehra

The German tuner’s new carbon-fiber supercar wears Porsche’s silhouette but builds its own identity from the ground up.

The Ehra lands at Monterey Car Week looking like a 911 that spent time in a wind tunnel and came out hungry. Wide, low, finished in matte graphite with that particular German precision that stops just short of aggression, it’s the kind of machine that makes you squint at the badge twice. Except it isn’t a Porsche, not really. RUF stripped away the assumption and started over.

What you’re looking at is a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis that RUF engineered entirely in-house, draped in a body that echoes the 911’s DNA while spinning it into something deliberately other. Under that widebody sits a flat-six hand-assembled by RUF’s craftspeople in Pfaffenhausen, Germany, breathing out 650 horsepower and enough torque to dispatch 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. A seven-speed manual transmission, not a dual-clutch or a DCT, connects driver to engine with the kind of mechanical honesty that feels almost defiant in 2025. It’s the kind of choice that tells you everything about RUF’s bet on what collectors actually want when they’re spending this kind of money.

The reveal itself carries weight beyond the usual launch theater. RUF has spent decades living in Porsche’s shadow, building incredible modified 911s and 930s that proved faster and meaner than the originals. The Ehra is the company finally saying: we don’t need the shadow anymore. It’s a declaration wrapped in carbon fiber, backed by engineering that speaks for itself. In a moment when every supercar brand is either chasing electric futures or drowning in legacy reverence, RUF is simply building the car it wanted to build, mechanical and pure.
