An ultra-rare and uniquely finished RUF CTR1 “Redbird” is set to cross the block at RM Sotheby’s Monterey Car Week auction.
The Only Bordeaux Red CTR1 and Alois Ruf’s Personal Car
This 1989 RUF CTR1 Lightweight “Redbird” stands apart as the only CTR finished in a bespoke paint-to-sample Bordeaux Red. One of just six Lightweight models ever built, it was originally commissioned by a German doctor and later became the personal car of RUF founder Alois Ruf himself.
Legendary Performance and Exclusive Features
Known for outpacing the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959, the CTR1 boasts a top speed of 211 mph and a twin-turbo 3.4L flat-six engine with matching numbers. The Lightweight variant sheds weight with aluminum panels and Clubsport seats while offering unique luxuries like power windows, custom telemetry, and heated glass. Distinctive touches include a Pfaffenhausen hood badge, chrome trim, and silver wheels.
A Collector’s Dream With Low Mileage
With fewer than 19,000 km (11,745 miles) on the odometer, “Redbird” comes with extensive documentation and a history of European ownership. Upgrades include a G50 transaxle and enhanced brakes by RUF. Now part of a prominent American collection, this CTR1 Lightweight represents a rare opportunity to own a meticulously customized analog performance icon.
Bidding opens August 16 at RM Sotheby’s Monterey Sale.
