Evening Sale Highlights

The Modern & Contemporary Art Evening Sale on September 27 in Hong Kong features debut auction pieces alongside masterpieces from post-war and contemporary artists. Yoshitomo Nara’s “Pinky,” painted in 2000, is estimated at $7.7–10.3M USD and offered publicly for the first time. Tom Wesselmann’s “Smoker #17” is also on the block, alongside Andy Warhol’s “Hearts Pink” and David Hockney’s iPad work “The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire in 2011 (1 January).”

Celebrating Visionary Women

The auction also spotlights women artists, including Yayoi Kusama’s “INFINITY-NETS (SFOOUY)” and Ruth Asawa’s “Untitled S.013,” the late sculptor’s first Hong Kong auction appearance. These works complement the broader collection of modern and pop-art visionaries featured throughout the sale.

Day Sale and Special Significance

The Day Sale on September 28 will showcase Takashi Murakami’s “I stare into your eyes” along with other Kaikai Kiki artists like Kasing Lung, Aya Takano, MADSAKI, and Mr. Danielle So and Rebecca Hu highlight the importance of this season, noting that nearly two-thirds of the Evening Sale pieces are auction debuts, marking a milestone in Phillips’ ten-year journey in Asia.
