Two of the UK’s boldest artists push boundaries with a raw fusion of anime, chaos, and satire.
Breaking the Rules With TABOO
Opake and Slawn have joined forces for TABOO, a project that challenges the boundaries between what’s explicit, what’s acceptable, and what society tries to suppress. The collaboration first surfaced on September 15 when Opake guest-edited The Big Issue, designing its cover and sitting down with Slawn for a candid conversation about censorship, faith, addiction, and the freedom that comes from breaking the rules.
Their partnership reflects a collision of two creative forces unafraid to speak their truth — loud, messy, and unapologetic.
Art Meets Anarchy
Launching officially on September 25, TABOO includes hand-painted skate decks, editioned prints, and original canvases available through Slawn’s site. The centerpiece is a dripping, hand-painted Ferrari 308 — a striking symbol of luxury, rebellion, and artistic defiance.
Opake’s work in the collection channels anime-inspired imagery, exploring the fine line between innocence and obscenity. Slawn builds on that energy, splashing the surfaces with his signature overpainting — warped grins, distorted masks, and clown-like figures that blur satire and self-reflection. Together, their work feels like graffiti colliding with fine art — charged, chaotic, and alive.
The Pop-Up That No One Saw Coming
Early October brings TABOO to life with a surprise pop-up in London at an undisclosed location. Collectors will get access to artist-proof prints and a limited-edition T-shirt made in collaboration with The Big Issue.
TABOO isn’t just an art release — it’s a cultural statement. It captures two artists in their rawest form, creating without filters or restraint, turning taboo into truth.
