An immersive group exhibition opens the organization’s new Tribeca space by rethinking kinship in a digital age.
A New Home in Tribeca
Onassis ONX has inaugurated its new six thousand square foot home in Tribeca with TECHNE Homecoming, a multimedia group exhibition now on view through January eighteen. The show brings together works by seven artists and marks a new chapter for the experimental digital art incubator, grounding its expanded physical presence in themes of connection and belonging.
Rethinking Family in a Digital World
The exhibition examines how ideas of family extend beyond bloodlines in an era shaped by technology. Drawing on ancient mythologies, artificial intelligence, bio art, and immersive environments, the works explore kinship, ancestry, and inheritance through both human and nonhuman lenses. According to program director Jazia Hammoudi, the exhibition reflects a belief that technology can deepen how people connect with one another, with history, and with imagined futures.
Immersive Works and Ongoing Programming
Highlights include Andrew Thomas Huang’s The Deer of Nine Colors, which weaves queerness, reincarnation, and Buddhist folktale, as well as Damara Inglês’ N Zinga Mbondo, a phygital journey following the Angolan queen into the afterlife. Additional works span VR environments, automated performances, generative projections, and sculptural installations that question forgotten or alternative forms of presence. Alongside the exhibition, Onassis ONX will also participate in this year’s Under the Radar performance festival, extending TECHNE Homecoming beyond the gallery walls and into live experimentation.
