The special edition sneaker pays tribute to Kobe’s high school years through premium materials and hidden storytelling details.
A Tribute to Kobe’s Early Basketball Journey
Nike is honoring Kobe Bryant’s roots with the release of the Dunk Low “Lower Merion Aces,” a sneaker inspired by his time at Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania. Before becoming an NBA legend, Bryant made his mark as a standout high school player, and this release reflects that foundational chapter of his career.
The design draws directly from the team’s away uniforms, featuring a bold red color that captures the identity of the Lower Merion Aces. By combining classic Dunk styling with meaningful references, the sneaker connects Bryant’s early achievements with his lasting legacy.
Premium Materials and Signature Details
The upper is crafted from a mix of satin, premium leather, chenille and mesh, giving the shoe a rich and layered texture. These materials elevate the traditional Dunk silhouette while adding depth to the overall design.
Several details highlight Bryant’s personal story. His high school number 33 appears embroidered on the lateral heel, while his signature is placed on the heel tab. The Sheath logo is featured on both the tongue and outsole, reinforcing the connection to his signature line.
Hidden Elements That Tell a Story
Beyond its visible design, the sneaker includes subtle storytelling elements that reference Bryant’s mindset. A hidden message inside the tongue reads Friends hang sometimes. Banners hang forever, a phrase that reflects his competitive spirit and focus on legacy.
Additional snake inspired detailing appears in the forefoot traction, tying back to Bryant’s Black Mamba persona. The Nike Dunk Low Lower Merion Aces is set to release on March 23 through Nike SNKRS and select retailers with a retail price of 135 USD.
