A sweeping update turns the flagship sedan into a rolling showcase of software, luxury, and power.
A Flagship Reengineered From the Inside Out
Mercedes Benz has revealed its most extensive S Class update to date, reworking more than half of the model’s components to keep the luxury sedan at the top of its class. Rather than shifting the S Class toward a fully electric identity, the brand doubles down on its traditional long bonnet silhouette while integrating next generation computing and driver assistance systems beneath the surface. At the center of this transformation is MB.OS, a liquid cooled supercomputer that connects suspension, lighting, safety systems, and infotainment into a single intelligent ecosystem.
A Superscreen Cabin Built Around Software
Inside, the S Class becomes a fully software defined luxury environment. The new MBUX Superscreen stretches across the dashboard, combining a large central display with dedicated driver and passenger screens, while rear occupants are treated to individual monitors and detachable controls that transform the back seat into an executive lounge. AI powered voice assistance, integrated video conferencing, advanced navigation, and over the air updates allow the car to evolve over time, all while maintaining Mercedes trademark comfort through features like intelligent climate control, advanced air filtration, and adaptive suspension systems.
New Powertrains Meet Classic Authority
Under the hood, Mercedes introduces a new flat plane crank V8 in the S580, delivering strong performance paired with mild hybrid assistance for smooth and efficient power. Updated six cylinder options gain additional torque and electrification, while the plug in hybrid variant offers increased output and extended electric range. With rear axle steering, cloud connected damping, and an expanded driver assistance suite, the 2027 S Class reasserts itself as the benchmark for what a modern luxury sedan should be in a software driven era.
