At the intersection of art, sustainability, and bourbon, Maker’s Mark unveils a cultural experience unlike any other.
Towering Glass Meets Kentucky Bourbon
At Maker’s Mark’s Star Hill Farm in Bardstown, Kentucky, world-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly has mounted a series of breathtaking installations on view through December. From vibrant outdoor works to a massive chandelier suspended in the distillery’s cellar, each piece transforms its surroundings with Chihuly’s signature energy and color. The glass works, alive with movement, serve as a striking contrast to the rustic atmosphere of the farm, underscoring the harmony between tradition and innovation.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Beyond the art, Maker’s Mark is using this moment to highlight its broader environmental mission. The distillery has been investing heavily in regenerative farming practices to restore soil health and biodiversity across Star Hill Farm. With Amanda Humphrey, the farm’s Advocacy and Experience Manager, guiding visitors, it’s clear that this is more than just greenwashing. From eco-friendly farming methods to their partnership with the University of Kentucky to conserve American white oak, Maker’s Mark is actively shaping a sustainable future for bourbon production.
Expanding the Bourbon Experience
Alongside the exhibition, the distillery also launched its “Summer of Sours” program in collaboration with hosting brand Big Night. By reimagining the classic whiskey sour with curated glassware and fresh seasonal recipes, the initiative positions Maker’s Mark not only as a heritage distillery but as a lifestyle brand that celebrates creativity and contemporary culture.
Driving away from Star Hill Farm, the impression lingers. The Chihuly glass, the commitment to sustainability, and the redefined bourbon experience all come together to show how Maker’s Mark is expanding what it means to engage with bourbon today.
