Louis Carreon Turns Private Jet Into Airborne Canvas at Art Basel

Louis Carreon

When art leaves the walls of a gallery and takes flight, the experience becomes impossible to ignore.

A Jet as Canvas

In a rare blend of art and altruism, contemporary artist Louis Carreon brought something truly original to Art Basel Miami, and it wasn’t found in a conventional gallery.

In collaboration with The Landmark Aviation at Miami International Airport, Carreon was commissioned to transform a Hawker jet into a flying canvas. Painted entirely in black-and-white, the jet features Carreon’s signature style of bold, rhythmic lines and international symbols of travel, a visual language he developed while living and creating in many different countries.

Deeply influenced by the work of Keith Haring, Carreon channels a similar energy of movement and accessibility, while layering in his own globally inspired iconography. These symbols have since graced hotels, yachts, and private planes all over the world. The project stood out against the usual commerce-driven noise of the week, offering something far more meaningful: a portion of proceeds to Autism Speaks.

An Immersive Airport Experience

Alongside the jet, a series of original paintings by Carreon were exhibited in a private gallery space inside MIA’s Lux Terminal, creating an immersive, airport-bound art experience for VIP Basel-goers. Art Basel may be packed with spectacle, but this one took off in every sense.

Wally’s Digital Valet Network

The video of the transformation even took flight on Wally’s Digital Valet Network, playing across some of LA’s hottest restaurants and nightlife spots including Drake’s, Members, Arden, République, and more. With premium placement at trendsetting venues, the Digital Valet Network has quickly become one of the most powerful and stylish new ways for brands to reach affluent, highly engaged audiences.
