The rapper was taken into custody following an encounter with LAPD officers on Ventura Boulevard.

The Incident

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to calls about a naked man on Ventura Boulevard around 5:50 a.m. on August 21. Police say the individual, later identified as Lil Nas X, charged at them before being restrained and taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose before being booked on a misdemeanor charge of battery on a police officer.

Legal Proceedings

Records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department list his arrest time as 6:10 a.m. in North Hollywood. He was booked later that morning at LAPD Valley Jail in Van Nuys. Authorities noted that he cannot be cited out and must appear before a judge before release. A bail hearing is scheduled for Monday, August 25.

Recent Activity

Just a day prior to the incident, Lil Nas X cleared his Instagram page, changed his display name to “Queen Madeline,” and began sharing a series of unusual costume posts and music teasers featuring collaborators like Young Kio and Lil Jon. The artist has also been open about recent health struggles, revealing earlier this year that he experienced partial facial paralysis, though he later updated fans on his recovery.
