The one-of-a-kind creation marks Matthieu Blazy’s first Chanel Haute Couture bridal design for a friend of the house.
A Milestone For Chanel And Matthieu Blazy
Chanel has officially celebrated Dua Lipa’s recent wedding by unveiling the custom Haute Couture gown created for the occasion. Crafted within the maison’s legendary ateliers at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris, the dress represents a significant moment for the French fashion house, becoming the first Chanel Haute Couture wedding gown designed by Matthieu Blazy.
Created specifically for the singer, the dress reflects the close relationship between Dua Lipa and Chanel while showcasing the craftsmanship that defines the house. The bridal creation was brought to life through the expertise of several of Chanel’s renowned Maisons d’art, each contributing specialized techniques to the final look.
Hundreds Of Thousands Of Beads And Over A Thousand Hours Of Work
At the center of the gown is an extraordinary display of embroidery. Atelier Montex meticulously hand-embroidered the dress with 480,000 individual beads, while Lesage devoted 1,155 hours to creating intricate trompe l’oeil jewelry effects woven throughout the design.
Adding to its dramatic silhouette is a two-meter train lined with 25,000 feathers crafted by Lemarié. The result is a highly textured composition that balances traditional couture techniques with striking proportions.
A Complete Couture Ensemble
The bridal look extended beyond the gown itself. A six-meter tulle veil was hand-embroidered with matching beadwork and feather detailing before being finished with hand-cut organza appliqués that enhanced its movement and depth.
Completing the ensemble, heritage shoemaker Massaro created a pair of custom white satin pumps exclusively for the occasion. Together, the pieces highlight the collaborative artistry behind Chanel’s couture universe and mark an important chapter in Matthieu Blazy’s early tenure with the house.
