Video no longer just reflects reality, it becomes reality itself.
A Vision of Moving Images
The Nam June Paik Art Center in Yongin, South Korea, presents The City of Nam June Paik: The Sea Fused with The Sun, now on view through October 19. The exhibition features works by Paik alongside Yiyun Kang, Gijeong Goo, Hyewon Kwon, and Inhwa Yeom, exploring how screens and video have evolved from mirrors of our world to active participants in shaping it.
Videory and the Modern City
Paik foresaw a future he called “videory,” where history and experience would unfold through moving images rather than words. This concept comes alive in the exhibition, with immersive installations that examine how our lives are intertwined with technology, media, and the constant flow of information.
Nature, Technology, and Perception
Through multilayered visual environments, the show captures the tension between human experience and machine influence. Themes of post-human life, climate change, and nonlinear time encourage viewers to rethink memory, perception, and connectivity in the digital age. The City of Nam June Paik is on view until October 19 at the Nam June Paik Art Center in Yongin.
