Gregory Crewdson Revisits His Haunting Vision Of American Suburbia

The celebrated photographer is partnering with Avant Arte to release six limited edition prints from his cinematic Dream House series.

A Return To One Of Crewdson’s Most Iconic Series

Gregory Crewdson is revisiting Dream House, one of his most acclaimed photographic projects, through a new collaboration with Avant Arte. Originally commissioned by The New York Times in 2002, the series remains a defining example of Crewdson’s ability to transform ordinary suburban settings into emotionally charged cinematic scenes.

The upcoming release includes six photographs drawn from the series, offering collectors a chance to own images that helped establish Crewdson as one of contemporary photography’s most influential storytellers.

Hollywood Talent Meets Suburban Unease

Photographed inside an abandoned Vermont home, Dream House features an impressive cast including Philip Seymour Hoffman, Tilda Swinton, Gwyneth Paltrow, William H. Macy, and Julianne Moore. Despite the star power, the house itself remains the true focal point, serving as the emotional center of each composition.

Through carefully staged lighting, special effects, and meticulous production design, Crewdson creates scenes that feel suspended between reality and dream. The photographs explore themes of loneliness, anxiety, and isolation, revealing the darker emotions often hidden beneath the surface of suburban life.

A Limited Opportunity For Collectors

The six works will be released as unframed archival pigment prints measuring 35 x 50 cm and produced on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright White 310gsm paper. Each edition will be signed and numbered by the artist.

Collectors will have a narrow window to secure a piece from the series, as the time limited release begins on June 30 at 12 PM EDT and remains available for just 48 hours. The launch offers a rare opportunity to acquire work from one of Crewdson’s most haunting and celebrated bodies of photography.
