Deftones Release New Album Private Music

deftones

The Sacramento rock legends are back with their 10th studio album.

The Album and Tracklist

Deftones have officially dropped their long-awaited record Private Music, marking the band’s 10th studio album. Released Friday, August 21, the project features 11 tracks including the singles “My Mind Is a Mountain” and “Milk of the Madonna.” Other songs on the tracklist include “Locked Club,” “Ecdysis,” “Infinite Source,” “Souvenir,” “Cxz,” “I Think About You All the Time,” “Cut Hands,” “~Metal Dream” and “Departing the Body.”

Recorded in Malibu and Joshua Tree, the album is the band’s first full-length since their 2020 release Ohms, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and became their sixth top 10 entry.

The Road to Release

The rollout for Private Music began about six weeks ago, when the band revealed the album artwork — a striking image of an albino snake coiled against a bright green background — and confirmed the release date. Soon after, Deftones gave fans a taste with “My Mind Is a Mountain” and later followed up with “Milk of the Madonna.”

To celebrate the album, the band hosted exclusive listening sessions from August 19 to 21 in major cities including Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Sydney, Toronto, Mexico City and their hometown of Sacramento.

Touring and What’s Next

Before the album’s arrival, Deftones launched a North American headline tour with major stops at Madison Square Garden in New York City and the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. The tour continues with Canadian dates starting in Vancouver, followed by more U.S. shows in the coming weeks.
