Cleon Peterson Explores Redemption in New Sculpture Shame

redemption

The limited-edition work will be available for only 48 hours through Avant Arte.

From Flat Forms to Sculpture

Los Angeles-based artist Cleon Peterson is known for stark depictions of power struggles, corruption, and violence, often expressed through flat, graphic silhouettes. With his latest collaboration with Avant Arte, Peterson transforms those two-dimensional figures into a sculptural presence.

Inside the Work

Titled Shame, the matte black resin sculpture portrays a figure bent forward, head in hands, gripping a sword pressed into the ground. The pose embodies both tension and contradiction, suggesting an inner conflict between suffering and the possibility of redemption. “Within this feeling of shame lives the potential for transformation, looming between redemption and suffering,” Peterson explained.

Release Details

The edition measures 10.04 x 9.61 x 5.79 inches and will be available exclusively through Avant Arte as a timed release. Collectors will have just 48 hours to purchase the work, beginning September 17 at 11:00 CDT.
