A 1969 design legend returns as an ultra limited sports car built for collectors and purists.
A Design Icon Reborn
Bertone has officially revived the Runabout, transforming a concept car legend into a road legal sports car for a new era. More than fifty years after Marcello Gandini’s original Autobianchi A112 Runabout, the new two seater channels the same wedge inspired spirit through sharp surfacing, compact proportions, and unmistakably Italian presence. While its footprint remains small, the stance, details, and silhouette firmly root it in Bertone’s design DNA.
Lightweight Engineering With Serious Power
Beneath the sculpted bodywork sits a Lotus derived bonded aluminum chassis wrapped in carbon fiber panels, keeping overall weight to just over 1,050 kilograms. Power comes from a mid mounted supercharged 3.5 liter Toyota V6 producing around 475 horsepower, paired with a six speed gated manual transmission. The result is a car capable of sprinting from zero to 62 miles per hour in just over four seconds, supported by double wishbone suspension, adjustable dampers, forged wheels, and high performance brakes. Inside, the cockpit leans into nautical inspiration with a low seating position, minimalist instrumentation, and tactile analog controls.
Limited Production and Bespoke Appeal
Production of the Runabout is capped at just 25 examples, split between an open Barchetta and a more versatile Targa with a removable carbon roof. Each car is built to order, offering extensive personalization across colors, materials, and accessories, including bespoke luggage and helmets. Priced at approximately €390,000 before taxes, the Runabout launches the new Bertone Classic line as a rolling design statement that celebrates heritage while embracing modern craftsmanship.
