A darkly refined capsule channels Japanese horticulture through avant garde tailoring.
Bonsai Artistry Meets Streetwear Precision
WILDSIDE Yohji Yamamoto has joined forces with TRADMAN’S BONSAI, led by Teppei Kojima, for a six piece Spring Summer 2026 capsule that merges traditional bonsai culture with contemporary fashion. The collaboration centers on the Goyomatsu Moyogi-Mei “501,” a Japanese Five Needle Pine especially significant to Kojima, transforming the living sculpture into embroidered and printed design statements.
Through this partnership, Yohji Yamamoto’s signature monochromatic palette and refined silhouettes intersect with the storytelling heritage of bonsai craftsmanship.
Embroidery, Reversible Layers and Hidden Detail
The standout piece of the collection is a Reversible Souvenir Jacket featuring bold monochrome embroidery of the “501” pine across the back. On the reverse side, an intricate jacquard woven collage showcases TRADMAN’S BONSAI’s prized specimens, including Black Pine and Juniper, forming a subtle camouflage inspired textile.
This theme of quiet discovery continues across a cotton chino tailored jacket and matching drawstring pants with asymmetrical pockets. While the exterior remains minimal and predominantly black, the interior lining reveals the same detailed bonsai collage, adding depth beneath the surface.
Launch Details
The WILDSIDE Yohji Yamamoto x TRADMAN’S BONSAI capsule releases on March 5, 2026, with prices ranging from $110 to $1,200 USD. Through sculptural silhouettes and botanical symbolism, the collection presents bonsai not as ornament, but as a living philosophy translated into wearable form.
