Blending archival influence with modern innovation, Nike unveils its latest running collection.
A Global Launch Rooted in Japan
Nike introduces the International Running Pack, a capsule of four models that merge vintage running heritage with modern Japanese style. The collection will first release on August 30 at the UNION RUNNING DEPT. BY NIKE in Tokyo, followed by a Japan-wide launch on September 5 and a global release on September 10.
Four Shoes, Four Histories
The Vaporfly 4, Alphafly 3, Pegasus 41, and Vomero 18 all draw from historic Nike runners. The Vaporfly 4 is inspired by the Pre Montreal racing spike, designed ahead of the 1976 Olympics for Steve Prefontaine. The Alphafly 3 references the Sting, Nike’s original suede-and-nylon flat. The Pegasus 41 nods to the Waffle Runner, while the Vomero 18 reworks the LD-1000. Each silhouette integrates these archival cues with contemporary performance features and direct-printed detailing.
Heritage Meets Innovation
Lead designer Katsunobu Asayama explained that the goal was to honor Japanese runners’ appreciation for vintage aesthetics while embedding Nike’s latest innovations. Alongside the footwear, a complementary apparel range carries a nostalgic palette and bold halftone graphics, reinforcing the blend of past and present.
The Nike International Running Pack will be available globally on September 10 via nike.com and select retailers.
