Meryll Rogge Named New Creative Director of Marni

Marni

Belgian designer takes the helm as Marni looks to a bold new chapter under her vision.

Meryll Rogge has been appointed the new creative director of Marni, following Francesco Risso’s departure after nearly a decade leading the brand. The announcement was made by Marni’s parent company, Only The Brave (OTB), signaling a fresh start for the Italian label.

A Visionary Leader for Marni’s Future

Marni CEO Stefano Rosso praised Rogge as “an exceptional creative talent and an inspiring woman,” whose vision will shape the brand’s next era. OTB founder Renzo Rosso highlighted how Rogge impressed the team with her sensitive reinterpretation of Marni’s DNA, bringing a contemporary global vision that spans accessories, interior design, communication, and special projects.

Rogge’s background perfectly aligns with Marni’s creative identity. After graduating from Antwerp Academy, she honed her skills as a womenswear designer for Marc Jacobs in New York before leading womenswear at Dries Van Noten. Launching her eponymous brand in 2020, Rogge quickly gained attention for her upcycled and reconstructed garments, inspired by eclectic themes ranging from Salvador Dali’s hometown to 1980s Americana fashion.

A Creative Force with Industry Recognition

The 40-year-old designer has been recognized as a finalist for prestigious awards including the LVMH Prize, the Andam Prize (which she won in 2025), and the Woolmark Prize. Rogge is known for her bold use of colors, prints, and wearable constructions—a style she shares with her all-women design team.

Alongside her design work, Rogge is a seasoned consultant, collaborating with major fashion groups like Puig and LVMH on brand positioning and design. This experience in understanding and evolving brand identities positions her well to lead an established house like Marni.

Looking Ahead: A New Chapter for Marni and OTB

Rogge’s appointment comes amid a wider creative reshuffle at OTB, which has recently installed new leaders at Jil Sander and Maison Margiela. Importantly, Rogge is currently the only female creative director within the OTB portfolio.

With the company facing challenges in the post-pandemic market, including a slight sales decline in 2024, OTB is betting on new leadership and fresh vision to accelerate growth. Stefano Rosso, who became CEO of Marni last year, aims to drive the brand forward alongside Rogge’s creative direction.

Expressing her excitement, Rogge said, “I’m truly honoured to join Marni — a house I’ve long admired for its independent spirit. I look forward to helping shape what comes next for Marni.”
