Marking a decade of her label, Cecilie Bahnsen’s latest collection is a beautiful homage to past designs and creative evolution.
A Reflective Runway Show at Copenhagen Fashion Week
At Copenhagen Fashion Week, Cecilie Bahnsen unveiled her “Hana-bi” collection — named after the Japanese word for fireworks — to honor ten years of her eponymous label. Set against the industrial backdrop of Refshaleøen, the show highlighted the brand’s signature balance between delicacy and strength through a luminous palette that moved from white to silver, symbolizing growth and renewal.
Archive Fabrics and Innovative Designs
The collection reimagined archival textiles like Myrtia organza, Fiama fil-coupé, and quilted taffeta from previous seasons. Broderie anglaise fronts paired with quilted silk backs, airy skirts revealed sequined briefs, and classic silhouettes were inverted or reconstructed, showcasing couture-level craftsmanship and emotional depth.
Embroidered ASICS Sneakers and Immersive Experience
A long-standing collaboration with ASICS was woven into the show, with white sneakers transformed through embroidery, foil details, and deconstructed linings. The presentation felt like a living poem, accompanied by a haunting score from August Rosenbaum and Beth Gibbons, as models moved through mist and light in an ethereal display.
A Love Letter to Copenhagen and the Brand’s Community
More than a retrospective, “Hana-bi” was a heartfelt tribute to Copenhagen and everyone who has supported the brand’s journey. Select guests wore archive pieces, blending the boundary between audience and runway. The collection is now available for purchase directly from the runway or by private appointment at Cecilie Bahnsen’s new Copenhagen boutique. Visit the official label website for details.
